Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
