Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts in addition to the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
