Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino betting is illegal. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
