Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features a number of comforts accompanying the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
